What Have I Been Knitting - Hats

I taught the Shroom Hat pattern at knitting retreat. It is fun and fast in bulky yarn.

Two of the hats are on the table and the red one is being modeled on the couch. Personally I have knit about 12 of these over the last year. I think the knitters pictured will be knitting quite a few themselves for gift items because they look good on anyone.

And I knit another of the "Beret for not so windy days" pattern from the new yarn I got from Serendipity. The yarn is Gina by Plymouth Yarns. I managed the first hat out of one skein. I have other skeins to make up. This is my favorite light hat to wear on cool mornings.

I predict more hat knitting in my future. I hope everyone has a favorite thing to create~!

Retreat! Fourth Year and All Went Well

Our 4th annual knitting retreat is over and done; as far as I can tell it was a success.

Our first evening we had a Yarn Tasting Happy Hour presentation at our cabin by Sheryl from Serendipity Yarns in Buena Vista. It was fun with a viewing of new yarn offerings and some fun prizes. Will plan to do that again next year.

On Saturday, some went off to shop for yarn early, some went for coffee with friends and I took a small group on a scenic tour around BV before yarn shopping. We discovered the historic Midland Railroad Line tunnels on the east side of the Arkansas River. That was fun. And we drove as far up the Cottonwood Pass that we could before we found the snow covered portion near the top. Then we turned and headed back to town to shop for yarn and gift items.

In the afternoon the group gathered for a knitting lesson to make a bulky weight hat that was so fun they all managed to finish their hats to wear home on Sunday. Good thing because the weather had turned to cold spring overnight and the hats felt good on.

I am already making plans for next year with the ideas that were suggested from this one. And enjoying the addition of Ms. Purl Sheep with the clothing that one of my fabulous knitters made for her. It was lots of fun to see everyone and spend some time knitting and relaxing together.

Thank you all for joining me for this fun event.

Busy is the Word

My, how a month flies by. Other things have taken precedence over the blogging and I apologize for leaving you all hanging.

I have been very busy with preparations for the annual knitting retreat. I, as usual, took on swag that was more complicated to construct and worried my way through a dozen of them. Thank goodness that is done.

Now I am on to knitting socks for Mother's Day and building baby quilts.

Other than that life is good. I hope everyone is having a great Spring so far.
