Potholders Make Great Birthday Gifts

This table runner (from the 10 minute table runner tutorial)  and puppy print hot mats are birthday gifts for my neighbor who hosts a potluck monthly for some friends. She loves orange and I tried to make that evident. I think I succeeded.

A Bit of "Owl"y Fun

This is another fast project inspired by this group of fabrics found at Joann's.

The pattern is based on the Million Pillowcase Challenge,  and I use the video tutorial for the tube pillowcase by Crafty Gemini found here.

For the fabric requirements I used 2/3 yard of the main body of the pillowcase (owls) which equals 24 inches long by width of fabric plus 1/3 of a yard or 12 inches of width of fabric (WOF) of the aqua color and the accent in lime is 3 inches of WOF. This makes a standard pillow size cover.
It creates a great project and possible one-size gift items.

Tool Kits - for Sewing and Knitting Tools

This project was one of those that you see it you have to go home and make it right now.

The pattern is homegrown from a local quilt shop called Nana's Quilt Cottage and was designed by the owner.

The larger one shown is per the pattern and then I made one that fits quart bags from two 10-inch strip blocks.

They use a snap closure that I prefer over Velcro.

These will make fun gifts for fellow quilters and knitters.

Mara for Mom

She loves the Mara that I made her two years ago for Mother's Day and requested this one for her Christmas gift.

It is done now and she is wearing it even if it was three months late.

I knit this one larger than the pattern called for at her request. It is done out of Berroco Vintage in Sloeberry. I used not quite seven skeins.

The last section I did over 560 stitches in the knit two, purl two rib for four inches.

Bit and Scraps Headband

What a great way to use up leftover bits of yarn.

I finished this headband, that I will wear later today, from the free pattern A Quartet of Headbands  by The Sweatshop of Love.

This one is knit out of several leftover bits of DK weight and doubled fingering weight on size 6US over 5 stitches for I-cord.

Next time I will try fingering weight on size 3US or 4US to create a lighter spring-weight version.

Charm School - Finished - Whatcha Got Bag

This is a very fun project to make.

I loved the construction which makes you think before you sew. Once it is done, the large is surprising large. I will easily be able to put a hat project or sock project in.

I have plans to make more of these. The pattern is called Whatcha Got Bag by This $ That. I used a charm pack called Bobbins and Bits by Pat Sloan.

Wishing everyone a Happy Spring!

What To Do On A Cold, Snowy March 2

The weather looks more like December than March, good thing it is short lived and moving out soon.

A great day to prep a really cute table runner for my neighbor that hosts the monthly potluck.

And I am ready to put the binding on my Knitty Kitty quilt. So fun to have a finished product within 10 days of start. This will be my favorite chair throw for winter from now on.

Finishing things on a cold day is the best reward before a busy week of work~!

March 1st Arrives!

It seems appropriate. And in Colorado we just substitute Colorado for March and it fits for most of the year.

I hope you are all anticipating the arrival of Spring~!
